About Dr. Rachel Barbanel-Fried
I am in private practice in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. I have experience working with a diverse group of people with a wide variety of needs.
I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the George Washington University with a concentration on children and adolescents. I completed my internship/residency at the American University Counseling Center. Later, I worked in the Washington DC school system and other college counseling centers before opening a private practice.
I taught graduate students at the George Washington University, Argosy University, Boston College, and the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy. I’m also on the clinical faculty for Harvard Medical School.
I’m a registered Yoga Teacher, and am certified to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
I have received specialized training on the topic of Food as Medicine with some of the country’s most renowned physicians including: James Gordon, Mark Hyman, Cynthia Geyer, and Joel Evans. I’ve studied mindfulness with Jon Kabbat-Zinn, Saki Santorelli, Tara Brach and others.
I have additional experience and training in working with pre and post-natal mental health concerns.
I love to speak to groups and have lectured for the program for Family Medicine Residents at Tufts University, as well as the Primary Care Physicians at Harvard-Vanguard Medical Associates. I’ve travelled extensively, lived abroad and taught cooking, yoga, and other classes in Bulgaria, Israel and the all over the US.
